        ABOUT US

Pikin for Read and Eat Campaign is a humanitarian movement or gesture that mainly gears towards promoting the culture of reading text books amongst school going children in Sierra Leone especially those in the poor rural communities whose parents or guardians cannot adequately provide for them, and at the same time providing them with basic school materials like text books, exercise books, school bags, foot wears etc...

This campaign is made up of different intellectual individuals of diverse academic and financial backgrounds who will raise funds through yearly, monthly or weekly contributions to help provide these essential materials to students mainly in classes one to six.

However, in other to make this humanitarian gesture come to fruition, the movement is therefore kindly soliciting for your kind support. You can support us by subscribing to our weekly, monthly or yearly donations. The categories of these donations are as follow:

You can also contribute above the amount stated in the donations schedules in other to ensure the success, growth and development of this great movement that is particularly seeking the interest of school going pupils in the poor rural communities in Sierra Leone. In the past few months, we have so far been able to reach out to 250 students in 10 different schools country wide and our prime target or focus for the 2020\2021 academic year is for us to reach out to 500 students country wide through your financial supports.

From our findings so far, we have discovered that school going children in poor rural communities in Sierra Leone are facing series of problems in their academics such as lack of text books, reading books, exercise books, decent school bags, decent foot wears, uniforms to name but a few. Some students even go to school on bear foots and some with sippers which the school authorities are always frowning at; and sometimes the school authorities ask them to return home and dress properly and those whose parents can afford to provide for them materially will stay in school for that day. This financial inequality amongst the students in these poor communities has caused many intelligent students to dropped out of school because their parents cannot adequately provide for them and it is still causing many to drop out of school and this is very bad for the future of our country.

With your donations or subscriptions, all the above highlighted problems these students are facing can be addressed timely and grant them the access to quality education in these communities for the future of our beloved mama Salone.

CHILDREN

Child Welfare Protection And Right to Education [CWPRE]

Around the global, children are at risk from all sorts of violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Conflict and natural disasters have forced millions of children to flee their homes and face the dangers of migration and displacement. Commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking, child labour, teenage pregnancy, rape and child marriage are problems in Sierra Leone today. At-risk children and adolescents need their rights enforced if we are to truly protect them from harm and to ensure that they develop to their full potential. As an organisation we're working to protect children we want to see each and every child stay safe within and outside their homes.

  • WHO IS A CHILD? Legally, the term child may refer to anyone under the age of majority or some other age limit. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines a child as "a human being below the age of 18 years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier"
  • WHAT IS CHILD PROTECTION? Child protection is the protection of children from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect. Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child provides for the protection of children in and out of the home. Children constitute a very neglected part of this nation's population. They are the next generation of leaders but if they are not taken care of they will not perform as expected.
  • Our initiative is going to engage school pupils through debating competitions on topics of child welfare protection and human rights in order to broaden their understanding. It will also create a platform for teachers in the primary and junior levels to have a better understanding about how to protect their pupils within the school curriculum.
